Kate: The World
Maggie: What’s the news?
Kate: It’s important to stay current. That’s what I always say. Because I’m always going around saying these really profound things. You should probably write that one down somewhere.
I know you don’t get to read much news these days, Maggie, since you’re working so hard, and barely have time to see me anymore, and don’t remember to return my calls, or my texts, or say thank you for those flowers I leave on your doorstep every morning….Kidding. Everyone, Maggie called me on her lunch break today. How cool is that? I feel great about myself right now.
Ok, some stuff, y’know, out there, in the world. That was a lot of commas.
American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi talks about her eating disorder.
It’s a really, really good idea to expand the definition of eating disorders beyond anorexia and bulimia. I actually didn’t know much about other versions of eating disorders until Maggie told me some facts pretty recently. I was embarrassed at how uneducated I was about it, but that’s probably a sign that a lot of people are. Time to spread awareness! Still not gonna watch American Idol, though…
More The Price of Beauty. I just typed “The Prince of Beauty.” That would be a very different show. Luckily, I deleted it. But then I told you anyway, so we’re kinda back where we started. The jury (in my head) is still out on this show. I love the idea, but— Ok, for now, I just love the idea.
Movie: She’s Out of My League. The concept of the “perfect ten” lives on—in blond form, as usual. Oy vey. Where are the sexy Jewish girls? The “ideal” girl here doesn’t have to do much besides be really hot and not wear any underwear, as she mentions in the preview. For the record, I’m usually wearing underwear. I don’t think I stand a chance at hotness. Ok, there are a few times that I don’t. Like when I shower. That’d be weird otherwise.
And, in conclusion, here’s some cake to eat, from the fantastic food bloggers Alanna and Alex. Apparently a friend of mine knows one of the Al’s from kindergarten. I feel kinda famous by association.
I’m going to be making a serious effort to make sure a cake recipe gets included in all the news posted on this site. Not sure how our esteemed Board of Directors will feel about that…Or the Committee of News- Related Posts. Or the High Council of the Eating of the Damn Cake. But I’ll see what I can do…I have a decent amount of pull with the Grand Arch-Wizard who chairs the High Council. His miniature poodle ran in front of this hotdog cart, just as the guy was pushing it over a bridge, and I was painting the water lilies about ten feet away, and I jumped up, acting on pure adrenaline, and– well, it’s a long story. You get the idea.
Check back tomorrow for the second, and FINAL, installment of my wedding gown saga. It’s gonna be epic.

that was fun!
I don’t watch american Idol ….I did see Susan Boyle on youtube last year… AMAZING..but still don’t watch american idol. I am a avid TREKKIE though. just thought you should know. GO SPOCK!
never saw “the price of beauty” either but if the next show is about being fat and beautiful in Africa…I just saw a show on that (Discover channel or some thing like that) it horrified me, seeing these parents force feed thier daughters. HORRIFIED ME. how cruel. I sat thru the whole thing (why I watched it is beyond me) and kept telling myslef not to judge but was so deeply un nerved by these parents.
not watching that again ( not even sure if THAT’s what they are talking about but I am scarred now)
She’s out of my league looks cute…but I love movies. Did you see Star Trek?
and well, that cheese cake looks amazing. not really hungry and sporting a nagging headache and the cheese cake still looked amazing!
yes yes please post cake recipes…LEMON would be a good place to start!

glad i have your blog for my news. the article on kara is very interesting. i remember in nursing school how hard it was to get a grasp on the psych disorders because the DSM-IV isnt black and white like other disorders/diseases…its fairly subjective with a lot of gray area.

I have an eggless cake recipe that is delicious – if you want a vegan cake. =-)

Perhaps due to your good influence, I had cake with lunch today! It was an absolutely amazing raw chocolate maca caramel number. Yum yum yum. Something tells me the recipe is highly labor-intensive and secret though.

@Elizabeth: send it!! I want any cake recipes that people enjoy!
@Ali: Yay!! That does sound incredible. If it ever becomes less secretive, tell me immediately!
