NOW CLOSED. win anything you want from eShakti! (a giveaway)

winner announced at the bottom of this post!

I love giving stuff away. I also like sharing food. I am that person who will always have a sip of your drink when you politely offer, and will always try your dinner, when you so much as hint at it being open to the public. I will also put my drink and my pasta in the middle of the table, and say, “Seriously, guys, everyone have some.” And I will mean it wholeheartedly. Eat my pasta, people!

Sometimes, instead of rifling through my old clothes and bagging the stuff I don’t want, I just lead a friend to my closet and suggest things for her to try on.

Giving away clothes is the best.

So I love this kind of giveaway, obviously. The kind I’m doing here, again, with eShakti. Remember eSkakti? They customize everything. They have every size. They have gorgeous stuff. It’s pretty much the best.

So we’re doing a little contest. If you win, you get to pick something, basically anything, from the site. Only restriction: it can’t be jewelry/an accessory, or from the Overstock section. So that leaves you with…A LOT of stuff.

Some examples of stuff on the site:

To enter: follow eShakti on Facebook or Pinterist. Then leave me a comment under this post that says what you’d want to get if you won.

You have this much time: nine days. I’ll pick a winner on the 31st and announce her (him? maybe?) on June 1st.

Note: You have to be in the US or Canada (I KNOW, I know, readers from the rest of the world! I’m sorry! I care about you guys a lot! One of you even kept me company in Amsterdam when I was finally feeling better)

So that’s the deal. Let me give you something from the giant, fabulous closet of eShakti, in thanks for reading this blog. And some pasta, if we meet in person one day.

THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW COMPLETED!

Unroast: Today I love the way I feel in a new dress. It gets me every time.

Reader cake pic!

She says: Today was my birthday (37! Really?!? When did that happen?), and I made myself a big-ass Peanut Butter and Chocolate Chip Cake (ok, soynut butter — I’m allergic to peanuts). With cow-shaped sprinkles. Served on My Little Pony paper plates from 1980-something I found at my parents’ house. So here is a shot of the damn cake and one of me eating the damn cake.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!! You rock.

Just followed them on Facebook and Pinterest.
I would pick one of their cool skirts, because I often wear skirts and boots (to cover a massive leg scar I have)

I would, if I don’t cave and buy it first (which is a real danger!) get the Spanish Hacienda dress. So classic and beautiful!

PS – I love your blog!

Oh my god, I love eShakti. Just the fact that I can give them my bra size and they’ll customize the fit of the chest area has me sold. Most dresses aren’t designed for F cups.

I want their “Eternal Sunshine” dress. Mostly because I think I could maybe actually rock a yellow dress, and I want to give it a shot. Not something I’ve ever been bold enough to try before. I think I’d wear it with cowboy boots.

  11. Christina McPants responded on 22 May 2012 at 1:41 pm #

I’ve been coveting the rosette trim dress and I’d love the pleated sleeve sheath. Like them on facebook!

I followed on Pinterest, but I am having a ridiculously hard time choosing a favorite dress from their site. I think my fav is the forest eyelet shirtdress, but I’m also sort of in love with Sinnett Sheath in black/green and the green Banded waist poplin dress. It’s all so cute!

  18. Keisha responded on 22 May 2012 at 2:09 pm #

Completely in love with the Tux front poplin dress in navy–I’m already imagining all the pretty shoes it could go with!

There are so many choices… but, probably either the Blossoming strapless dress (http://www.eshakti.com/Product/CL0023392/Blossoming-strapless-dress)

Or! The owl tree corset style dress (http://www.eshakti.com/Product/CL0023389/Owl-tree-corset-style-dress).

so pretty, so classic. and it just so happens that i have a wedding to attend at the end of september and i’m already stressing about how i have nothing to wear. please pick me #^_^#

  28. Cait responded on 22 May 2012 at 3:02 pm #

Ohhh I love Eshakti but have instituted a personal spending embargo! Just-under-the-knee length dresses are my jam, so the customization is key because it’s so hard to determine where a dress will actually hit. I also love adding sleeves to dresses. I have the long beaded caftan dress but in tea length with added sleeves, and it’s the perfect 70′s free love/peasant dress. I would love the advertised version of the caftan dress, it’s got a great nautical feel. I liked it on Facebook!

  29. Kristine responded on 22 May 2012 at 3:09 pm #

Wow – love the eShakti website. It would be hard to choose but I love the “Navy Trim Floral Sundress” and I did follow them on Pinterest and liked them on Facebook too. :)

  30. Stacey responded on 22 May 2012 at 3:11 pm #

The Her fifties colorblock sundress, without a doubt.

  31. kari responded on 22 May 2012 at 3:13 pm #

I already follow eshakti on Pinterest! I love so many of their things, but since I’m on a serious dress kick lately I’d definitely go for a dress – I love the poplin in one of the yellow varieties. Summer!

  32. Katie responded on 22 May 2012 at 3:14 pm #

oh man!!! how i love eShakti. in fact, i love it so much that i bought my wedding dress from there. (no joke!) as for what i’d get? okay, i’ve got it narrowed down to either the butterfly kisses dress or the digitalis frock dress. ‘scuse me while i go swoon…

  33. Katie B responded on 22 May 2012 at 3:14 pm #

I like them on facebook. I would have a horrible time choosing between all the wonderful sundresses. No matter what, I may have to buy one. I think it should be a sundress kind of summer.

  34. Laura responded on 22 May 2012 at 3:18 pm #

Wow, I like everything on their website. My budget is in danger! I’d probably get this dress: http://www.eshakti.com/Product/CL0022003/Embroidered-drawstring-front-dress but customize it with longer sleeves! And I totally agree with your unroast about new dresses!

  35. Laura responded on 22 May 2012 at 3:18 pm #

oops, forgot to say that I liked them on Facebook.

  36. Caroline responded on 22 May 2012 at 3:19 pm #

I liked them on Facebook, and i’d get the red Flamenco Flutter Sleeve top!

  37. Patti responded on 22 May 2012 at 3:31 pm #

Oh, I adore eshakti’s dresses…i’ve coveted some of them for years! I’d have such a hard time choosing, but if I won, I would probably go straight for one of their printed dress, I love them all. :)

  38. Gaby responded on 22 May 2012 at 4:27 pm #

I’m following them already on Facebook, pinterest is so tempting but might be bad for my wallet. I would totally get a pretty summer dress! Because obviously the 20 in my closet are not enough. I could live in dresses if the weather allowed.
As a totally off topic note, feel free to take my Facebook profile as a cake pic. I know it’s a sundae technically but it tasted a million times better than a cake and had enough cookie dough for about two cookie cakes, seriously….sugar high for like 2 days. It was fantastic!

  39. Amy responded on 22 May 2012 at 4:37 pm #

So hard to choose, but I really love the We’re in the Loop dress. Very sexy!

And I liked them on facebook.

  44. Meg responded on 22 May 2012 at 5:12 pm #

Liked them on FB, and now I’m torn between which dress I’d go for… too many to decide!

    Top contenders:
    1) Mrs. Draper’s Day Dress
    2) Her fifties colorblock sundress
    3) Swan Print Cowl Neck Dress

I would welcome the chance to narrow it down to 1, though. ;)

  45. Abby responded on 22 May 2012 at 5:30 pm #

I’ve always wanted one of eshakti’s dresses…they’re all so pretty! I’m caught between the Birds Who Gossip dress(in navy/rust), the Four Leaf Clover dress, and the Bow-front Corset-style dress.

If I had to chose, I’d go with the Bow-front Corset-style dress…just because I’ve been wanting a red dress for a while, red and loud and unapologetic, and that dress seems like a perfect example.

  46. Amy responded on 22 May 2012 at 5:34 pm #

I just followed everything they have on Pinterest :) I would LOVE a new summer dress, perhaps something like this:

I am now following them on Pinterest. I love their summery, preppy aesthetic! I’m in love with the Ruffle Front Poplin Dress in white. The playful ruffles and the fact that it has pockets makes this dress stand out for me!

  57. Jamie B responded on 22 May 2012 at 8:37 pm #

I’m following them on BOTH sites, lol. I am currently lost on that site, and I can’t decide on just one thing I’d like. I am mostly looking for a top or dress with a shoulder-area configuration that will show off my relatively-new tattoo. :D
However, I could do with a cute skirt … aaa, so many pretty things!
Thank you so much for this generous giveaway!

  58. Nancy D responded on 22 May 2012 at 9:22 pm #

Liked them a few months ago, but figured that counts! Right?

Many many decisions here, but I’m leaning toward this: http://www.eshakti.com/Product/CL0023688/Colorblock-sheath-dress

    or this http://www.eshakti.com/Product/CL0023626/Pleated-cotton-poplin-dress,

but really I’d spend hours looking at all the customization options.

Seriously though, anyone purchase something and have a comment on the result?

  59. Jessica VZ responded on 22 May 2012 at 9:35 pm #

I liked them on facebook, and I already pinned some of their dresses before. Love them. I’d want the Gathered front pocket dress, I love the neck and length on it, but would add some 1/2 sleeves, I think.

  60. jessica responded on 22 May 2012 at 9:46 pm #

whoaaaaaa…thank you for this fun opportunity!!

i added them on pinterest–and got distracted there for an hour or so! ha!
then mozied my way to their site and found the “birds who gossip” dress. i love the colors, the cut of the sleeves, the knee length, and the rouging in the torso.

    thank you, thank you! :)

I love eshakti – it gives me a chance to find clothes that fit my chest >.<

  62. middling responded on 22 May 2012 at 9:51 pm #

I liked eShakti on Facebook. I have been wistfully eyeing the eShakti website for the last few months like a kid outside a candy store (or a cake store!). I now have no clothes that fit me, since I lost some weight, and no money to buy more, since I am still in graduate school. The dotted blues dress would bring summery happiness into my life. It’s grown up but young at heart, like me.

  63. Sheila responded on 22 May 2012 at 9:55 pm #

How awesome – I followed them on pinterest. I would get the “In full bloom” jersey printed dress. I love how you can add sleeves! Seriously – who lets you do that!

    Hi Kate!

New (quiet/silent) follower here! I would definitely love the chance to win the eshakti giveaway. I also recently discovered the shop and have been wanting to make a purchase for the longest! I think I would like this dress the most: http://www.eshakti.com/Product/CL0023004/Frilled-waist-dress. But any dress on eshakti is fabulous!

I went ahead and followed them on facebook too!

Thanks for keeping such a fantastic blog! I love it!

I already had them liked on Facebook. Hadn’t seen a lot of this new stuff, like the eyelet dress, wow! Maybe I’d get that. Also been wanting the Tiered denim chambray skirt or Embroidered dot print sundress.

  72. Clara responded on 23 May 2012 at 2:36 am #

Followed on Pinterest and pinned a whole bunch of things. I just spent the day sorting through my closet and got rid of over half of my wardrobe. No more polyester, no more clothes that don’t fit, have runs, are faced. I am embracing my hips and boobs and belly and want to dress like someone who knows what she has and loves it all. There were so many great things on Eshakti, but I think that http://www.eshakti.com/Product/CL0022949/Truly-a-wrap-top would look great with a pencil skirt.

  73. Kristine responded on 23 May 2012 at 3:00 am #

    Hi Kate!

This site is awesome! I would love the button front corset style dress. As I’m 4’11 with strange measurements, finding clothes is a pain. I always wanted something custom but couldn’t afford it so this would be really cool.

  74. Steph responded on 23 May 2012 at 4:16 am #

Thanks for the fabulous find. how did I not know about Eshakti? Just spent quality time drooling over the dresses. We’re in triple digits in arizona and dealing with some crazy politicians, so the eternal sunshine dress would totally help out and make me smile. Besides, I’ve never owned a yellow dress. Thanks for making my night.

  79. Amy Price responded on 23 May 2012 at 9:13 am #

I was reading a eulogy for Mary Kennedy and I spied a link about haircuts and bravery. From there I saw a site called eat the cake and that’s where I found YOU! Since my son was born 14 years ago, all our clothes are from thrift stores. I love it, save money, and help nonprofits. But I havent had a new dress in 15 years. This October I will turn 50, and when I saw your contest and visited the website I dreamed of a pretty, new dress for the occasion. I liked the sweetheart of a dress and the retro poplin dress. I thought either would flatter my size 18/20 frame. A new dress. A flattering dress. A fun dress. A dress that fits! You have got me thinking, and I appreciate it. I want my 9 year-old daughter to see me wearing a dress…and not just in old photos.

  80. Megan responded on 23 May 2012 at 9:33 am #

Liked them on Facebook and followed them on Pinterest. I would probably go with the Ship to Shore dress or the High Wheelin’ Dress. I adore nautical themed stuff more than everything except cake, but bicycles! And green! Also, I just had my hair cropped, and I like the idea of the girly bow up near my face.

    Hola Kate!

I’m 6ft tall and 137 pounds. I’m very tall and thin. It’s so hard for me to find clothing, let alone dresses that fit me. I have 4 weddings this summer and have no idea what I am going to wear! It really would be nice to own something that is customized to fit me correctly! It’s embarrassing that my dresses are always too short or baggy! :( Thanks for the opportunity! I would really like to enjoy some wedding cake this summer in this dress!!!

Wow! Such a find, these dresses are all gorgeous! It was really hard to pick one, but I would go for the Hummingbirds dress. The fact that it’s one of the few ones in knee-length (as opposed to below-knee length!) sold me.

Liked them on Facebook! Thanks Kate!

@Kim- I was going to say exactly that! Or else the surplice front dress in green or red.

These dresses look so perfect for dancing Lindy Hop in- lovely flared skirts but high enough at the back to avoid having your partner putting a palm on a sweaty back! I promise if I win I’ll take it dancing immediately.

So here’s the deal: I’m in Korea right now BUT I’ll be back in Canada in August. And in the meantime my sister could take delivery of anything for me in Canada. So I’m gonna go ahead and tell you what I’d want anyway and why. When I moved to Korea my recruiter told me the wrong dress code for my job so I came here with a million pairs of jeans and t-shirts instead of the business casual clothes that I was supposed to have. Koreans are tiny people and I can literally only shop in two stores two hours away from where I live. So this year has been a year of making do and feeling really frumpy A LOT of the time. Also I’m going to be attending my best friend’s wedding in August and I have no idea what I’m going to wear. So for all those reasons, pick me! And this dress:

The sweetheart top reminds me of my wedding dress, and the colors remind me of my secret dream to live in Cape Cod and have all white and navy blue decor. And a boat. American Dream or something. :)

I “liked” eShakti on Facebook–goodness, I just found out about them through this blog, but I’m already in-love with their personalization process! I’m rather short/petite with sometimes strange (according to traditional clothing-size standards), and it’s hard to find dresses that hit me “just right,” length-wise. (Another problem: being a broke grad student/writer who doesn’t have a magical wallet that sprouts bills overnight in order to help replenish my wardrobe.)

If I won, I’d select the Spring Foliage Dress, which is simultaneously me (earthy!) yet more festive than the traditional clothing I wear (I don’t own too many prints; not sure why!). Something about the color scheme seems patriotic (red, white, and blue) as well as traditionally Iberian (my ethnic background). It’s a beautiful blend of my heritage (Portuguese-American). In short–it draws me towards it!
The dress can be found here: http://www.eshakti.com/Product/CL0023496/Spring-foliage-dress.

    Thanks for the opportunity!
